**New in 2024** PCL Division: Baseball Ages 11, 10, 9
This division is primarily comprised of 11 and 10 year olds who were not selected to Majors. This division is aimed at our more developed 11 and 10 year olds who are on the cusp of the Majors division to foster their continued development. The primary avenue for this development is more playing time as opposed to being a part-time player in Majors. 9 year olds are eligible to play in the PCL division if assessed by independent evaluators, our Player Agent, and coaches to have the requisite skill level to play in this division, but generally 9 year olds will play in the AAA or AA divisions. Most of the rules of this division, including the the number of games and practices per week, is consistent with our Majors division. PCL games are usually played at Martens South.
Standings are kept and the season culminates with a postseason playoff tournament. 10-year-olds playing in PCL are considered for our District 10U All Star teams when there are not sufficient 10-year-olds in Majors to fill a team. PCL players are also the first selected after the season to fill the Minors SuperBowl Team to represent SMNLL at this post-season tournament run by District 52.
AAA Division: Baseball Ages 11, 10, 9
11 and 10-year-olds who are not selected to Majors or PCL will play in the AAA division. 9-year-olds who are deemed by coaches and independent evaluators to be skilled enough will also play in this division. Most of the rules of this division, including the the number of games and practices per week, is consistent with our Majors division. AAA games are usually played at Martens South.
Standings are kept and the season culminates with a postseason playoff tournament. 10-year-olds playing in AAA are considered for our District 10U All Star teams when there are not sufficient 10-year-olds in Majors or PCL to fill a team. Players in the AAA division could also be considered for the selection of a Minors Super Bowl All Star Team.
AA Division: Baseball Ages 9, 8, 7
9-year-olds who are not selected to AAA will play in the AA division (unless deemed a safety risk by our Player Agent). 8 and 7-year-olds who are deemed by coaches and independent evaluators to be skilled enough will also play in this division. The AA division uses a spring-loaded pitching machine to provide a more challenging environment from the Coach-Pitch environment of the Single A division, while also enabling a high frequency of balls being put in play to promote as much defensive and baserunning development as possible during the first half of the season with a progression to kid-pitching for the last half of the season and playoffs. Some Little League rules have been also modified for this division (e.g., no stealing of bases, one-base on an overthrow, etc.).
Teams typically play a 10 - 12 game schedule, with one weekend game (typically on Sundays) per week. AA games are usually at Martens North. AA teams practice twice per week (one field practice and one batting practice). Practices can be on weekdays or on Saturdays. Standings are kept and the season culminates with a postseason playoff tournament.
Single A Division: Baseball Ages 8, 7, 6
8 and 7-year-olds who are not selected to AA will play in the Single A division. 6-year-olds who have played a year of T-Ball can play in this division as well. We recommend 6 year-olds who have never played before to go through a year of T-Ball, but it is not a requirement.
Many Little League rules are modified in this division. This is the first division after T-Ball and the first opportunity to hit a ball that is pitched. The entire season is Coach-Pitch and other rules are also simplified (e.g., no base stealing, limits on number of batters per inning, etc.) as this division is aimed at player development as opposed to competitiveness. There are no standings or playoffs for this division.
Teams are formed using buddy requests and/or by school. Teams typically play a 10 - 12 game schedule, with one weekend game (typically on Sundays) per week. Single A games are generally at Martens South or Los Prados. Single A teams typically practice 1 - 2 times per week.
